GitNex 14.0.0 is released

If you are using Forgejo or Gitea as your Git forge, you may have heard of GitNex. If not, GitNex is an Android app available for Android users for free and as a paid version to support the development. It is open source, and its source code is available in the Codeberg repository.

Recently, GitNex changed the game with its UI and introduced a new UI called the dock UI in version 13. It is a highly productive, M3 expressive-based UI built for ease and eye candy. Several features were also introduced in that version.

This week, after more than a month of development, GitNex 14.0.0 was released with a bunch of new features. The highlighted one is bookmarks (an app-only feature).

Features of GitNex 14.0.0:

  • New language support in code editor and syntax highlighting
  • Open linked images in the app’s content viewer from Markdown files
  • Render images and alerts in release descriptions
  • Exclusive labels support
  • Bookmarks (app-only feature) – bookmark repositories, issues, PRs, repository tabs, profiles, and organizations for quick access
  • Extend copy and share options to URL and content in the content viewer
  • Render SVG files in the content viewer
  • Context-aware sharing across repositories, organizations, and profiles
  • Android 17+ local network access permissions
  • Forgejo actions (runners, tasks, variables; create and delete variables)

Improvements made in this version:

  • Color icon for server
  • Better handling of relative paths for images rendered in Markdown
  • Improved image loading in Markdown
  • Handle links in user profiles (email, website)
  • Improved pinned issues layout for consistency
  • Share commit link
